Twins, and drunks, and pirates--oh my!
Viola has been shipwrecked in the coastal land of Illyria, and has lost her twin brother, Sebastian. She disguises herself as a man, 'Cesario', in order to enter the service of the duke, Orsino, who she, of course, almost immediately falls for. Orsino is the duke of Illyria who is desperately in love with a local noble, Lady Olivia; Or, at least the idea of her. Olivia is mourning her brother's death, and wants nothing to do with the duke. She is attempting to live in a somber atmosphere, but is often interrupted by her raucous uncle, Sir Toby Belch. |

Sir Toby is "drunk nightly" with his friend, Sir Andrew. Perhaps friend is a bit of an incorrect term, as he really keeps Sir Andrew around for his money, and to be the butt of his jokes. However, his biggest joke yet is to be played on everyone's least favorite person--Malvolio.
Malvolio is the lady Olivia's pompous steward who has lofty ambitions of marrying up. However, Olivia has her eye on someone else. Orsino sends Cesario (Viola in disguise) to woo Olivia on his behalf, but Olivia decides she prefers Cesario and shamelessly pursues him. Sebastian, who looks nearly identical to Viola in her disguise, enters the city with his pirate friend, Antonio. Olivia and Sebastian cross paths and she makes the mistake you would expect in a Shakespearean comedy. This mistake is also made by a few other members of this wild cast of characters. If you want to see a show full of pranks, misplaced love, and mistaken identities join us May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th at the Wolfeboro Town Hall. Sword fights will be had, yellow stockings will be worn, and we will have you laughing your heart out. We hope to see you there! |
